Salt Lake City gala raises money for a school in Kathmandu and a cafe in Agra

Mission Rebuild Nepal's fundraising has always run through the Nepali diaspora in the United States, and Utah has been one of its more productive states.
The gala was held on 27 July 2019 at the Sugar Space Arts Warehouse in Salt Lake City. Its proceeds were divided between two recipients: the building fund for the Special School for Disabled and Rehabilitation Centre in Kathmandu, and Sheroes Hangout, an Indian organisation that employs and trains survivors of acid attacks.
Anju Thapaliya Sharma and Sudeep Sharma led the organising. Anju Thapaliya Sharma had by then been supporting the organisation for four years, since winning the Mrs Asia Utah title in 2015; she had also fronted the 5K run that Salt Lake City's Nepali community organised for the earthquake appeal in 2016.
The local ABC4 news station covered the event before it happened, which is unusual for a diaspora fundraiser and was almost certainly the reason for the turnout. The organisation's thanks after the fact went to guests, volunteers and local businesses, in that order.
