The first handover ceremony was held at Sipapokhare on Saturday 12 September 2015, and reported with a short video the following week.
Dr Bhagawan Koirala, the cardiac surgeon, was chief guest. Dr Arun Kunwar, a child psychiatrist at Kanti Children's Hospital, and Yuvraj Sharma spoke. Both had been monitoring the reconstruction work alongside their own jobs since the summer.
Two weeks later the organisation published the list of donors attached to each house handed over on 12 September, which established the pattern it followed for the rest of the programme: a ceremony, then a public record of who paid for what.
The message to donors afterwards avoided the usual formula. It told them that by giving they had become part of the lives of the families displaced by the earthquake, and that the blessings of those families would stay with them.
