The appeal shifts from buying oxygen plants to keeping them running

Buying a machine is the easy half. Through the summer of 2021 Mission Rebuild Nepal ran an appeal, in Nepali, for the unglamorous half.
नेपालीहरू द्वारा नेपालीहरूका लागी - कोविड-१९ संक्रमित नागरिकहरुको जीवन बचाउन।
The argument the appeal made was specific. Purchasing ten oxygen plants in France, it said, is not by itself sufficient; what matters is that the plants are used properly and permanently. That requires arrangements for transporting them to different parts of the country, backup generators, repairs, and a reserve for the spares each installation will eventually need.

The appeal was deliberately built for donors inside Nepal as well as abroad. It listed a Siddhartha Bank account in Tinkune, Kathmandu, an eSewa number, a Fonepay scan-and-pay code, and PayPal and GoFundMe links for those giving from overseas. Versions of the same card ran repeatedly between 21 June and 8 July 2021.
This posting drew more than 6,600 reactions, by a wide margin the largest response to anything the organisation published in eight years on the platform. The next largest was a house-handover notice from May 2016.
